Prof Marlies Bongers (GROW research school Maastricht University; Máxima Medisch Centrum Veldhoven) is a gynaecologist and associate professor of benign gynaecology. She is committed to breaking the taboo around heavy blood loss during menstruations and wrote the book ‘Biography of the uterus’ together with journalist Corien van Zweden. Marlies received the Els Borst Oeuvre Prize of the Association of Women Doctors in October 2022 for her scientific and social commitment.
